With the start of the new year, it brings new avenues and opportunities in the drainage category for 2026. As stormwater regulations continue to grow, we are seeing an increase in the number of engineered plans and products coming our way. The drainage category is one of the fastest growing segments at Central Pro Supply and we are building our commercial arm of the business to support the growing demand for these products.
Engineered plans have crept their way into the residential space slowly but surely over the last few years. In the past, having a plan with specified materials and products was reserved for commercial construction. Warehouses, retail space, community planning and municipal jobs were all common projects to find require these types of plans. With tightening regulations trickling into the residential space, we are now seeing engineered plans as a requirement for stormwater management on projects as simple as a small addition to a modest home. In many municipalities, additions to impervious surfaces, including driveways, pools and garages, now require a stormwater plan before any permits are issued for the new construction. This is a cost sometimes unconsidered by the homeowner but is unavoidable since nothing can be done unless this is a part of the scope of work. This creates new opportunities for contractors like you to ensure projects remain compliant with local stormwater regulations.

- In 2025, Frank Formicola was promoted to the Drainage Specifications manager. Frank’s 30 plus years of experience in stormwater management is elevating our internal team in terms of service, stock and product availability. Frank can assist in Take Offs and help to work through the details of these plans with a high level of expertise
- A growing number of branches are now stocking products specifically for the stormwater space. Dual Wall Pipe, Chambers, Permeable Pavers, Heavy Duty Channel Drains, Pre-Cast Structures and a wide range of Erosion Control Products and Fabrics are either in stock in our branches or easily sourced through our nationwide network of distribution partners
- We are also investing in our team’s knowledge and education in these products and solutions. Central Pros has aligned with our distribution partners to not only make sure we have the products you need, but we have the people in place to help make sure you are getting the service you need when installing your projects.
