About the Role

A Central Part of the Team

The Seed Category Business Manager is responsible for leading sales initiatives, identifying market and business development opportunities and creating marketing strategies to support and propel growth for the Seed Category at Central Pro Supply. A unique opportunity to lead category specific initiatives to contribute to the success of the seed category and overall organization. This role will report to the Turf Category Business Director.

Responsibilities include:

Sales Support

  • Customer Support– is able and ready to support the sales organization during customer calls or meetings (sales process support)
  • Seasonal Programs and Sales Initiatives- it is the business managers responsibility to bring programs and sales initiatives to the leadership team to support category growth. This individual will also be responsible to help drive the execution of these initiatives along with the other Turf Leadership team members.
  • Product Initiatives– provide clear and market specific directions to the organization on key focus products and solutions through this candidates deep understanding of the professional turf seed and specialty seed markets across our service areas to drive opportunity and growth.
  • Training Internal and External- lead training initiatives to support seed category growth both internally and externally
  • Vendor/Supplier Relations- serve as a liaison to key vendors/suppliers related to the seed category to maximize opportunity and impact while cultivating long-term partnerships.

Market and Business Development

  • Market Development- leverage their strong background and understanding of the professional turf seed and specialty seed markets across our service areas to drive sales opportunities and growth for the organization in both new and existing markets within the broader seed vertical.
  • Business Development– works with the local teams to identify as well as cultivate a robust customer pipeline in both existing and prospective customers for the seed category.
  • Innovation– develops the seed category innovation to bring key solutions to the market for Central Pro Supply and our customers

Marketing & Operations

  • Content/Resources– works in conjunction with the marketing team to create content and resources that will influence and support sales efforts in the seed category.
  • Category Marketing Plan– works in conjunction with the marketing team and turf category business director to create and support implementation of the seed category specific marketing plan that rolls up to the broader Turf Category marketing plan
  • Operational Support- Works along side the Turf Analyst, Purchasing and Inventory Department, and Turf Category leadership to support forecasting efforts, pricing strategies and inventory control measures in the Seed Category.

Reports To: Turf Category Business Director

Education:

  • B.S. in Agriculture, Marketing or Business-related field is preferred

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years industry experience with strong knowledge of the Professional Turf and Specialty Seed Markets
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to adopt a team approach mentality. Ability to prepare and present information to all levels of the organization as well as with external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of a sales process along with organizational, technical, and communications skills
  • Travel ~35-50% of Year

Pay and Benefits:

  • Salary: $80-95K
